load times for published Engage interactions or quizzes on an LMS

Oct 19, 2012

I'd like to hear suggestions for speeding up load times for Engage interactions or Quzmaker questions once a course is published and uploaded to an LMS. This LMS is external to our intranet and learners are located globally so I understand there may be some bandwidth issues. We have created a master slide that shows "please wait while the slide loads" until the circle begins. However, it sometimes it takes up to 30 seconds for the circle to appear. During this time, the audio associated with the slide plays ahead of the interaction and sometimes finishes before it loads. Is there anything when developing or publishing that can help condense the size and load times of Engage interactions or a quiz? We do make sure to condense any images appearing in the interaction or quiz.

Thanks for your suggestions or best practices!

Good Afternoon Robin, and welcome to Heroes!

I'll let the greater community contribute best practices for efficient course-building.

However, when an LMS is involved, this blog post is the place to begin.  You also want to be certain that you are packaging your published content properly for your LMS.

If you wind up empty-handed after reviewing the links above, I would next recommend comparing the performance of your content at SCORM Cloud.  If you cannot reproduce the problem there, this is likely an LMS-specific issue, and you will want to generate debug logs and supply them to your LMS Provider for additional troubleshooting.
