Lost Hyperlink in published e-course

I've published an e-learning course and asked my colleague to access. However, all links (hyperlinks) are lost. When we point the cursor to the link, there is no hyperlink. Only me is able to click on the links and access the site where the links brought me to. I asked another colleague to publish and she is also the only one to access the links in the content. So, the problem is that the links are accessible from the laptops that are used to publish the content while others can't even see the links... the cursor will just become a hand. Please kindly advise. All laptops are on the same system with the same version of Flash player. Thanks.
regards,
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
I'm not sure how you placed the hyperlinks into your course. You might want to review this support article that covers hyperlinks.

Hi Melanie. I chose Web instead of LMS when publising the content. Is that where the problem lies? The links work only on the computer where i published the content no matter i published it to local drive or network drive. But if i published to a metwork drive and ask my colleague to launch the course by clicking player.html, they cant access the hyperlinks. when they place the cursor onto the links, it just turns to a hand.
Hi Rachel
Just curious to know if your course's hyperlinks are functioning properly for others now...
Hi Peter. Thanks for follow-up.
At last we found that it works if we published the content to local drive but the links don't work if the content is published to Network drive. Is that normal?
Hi Rachel
Yep, that's a known issue (but an easy fix). If you're experiencing unexpected issues using Articulate software, here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.
1. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
3. Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article:

Thanks Peter for all the information. May | ask what the easy fix is?. Actually, we published to a network drive wanting to let colleagues in another dept to check the content, particularly the hyperlinks but they are all lost. Can I have your advice? Thanks.
Have you tried publishing to the local drive and then copying all of the files to the network drive? That works for us.
Hi Rachel
Sorry for not being more clear. The "simple fix" I was referring to is exactly what Blair mentioned above: to publish to a local drive.
Let us know if that resolves it...
Thanks!
Hi STAFF Peter
I am working on the same powerpoint with Rachel. I found that:
1) When I publish my file to local drive (C, the hyperlinks work.
2) When I publish my file to local drive (C:) and COPY the whole published folder to a network drive, the hyperlinks dont work.
3) After a few times of testing, I found that the hyperlinks work only if I publish the file DIRECTLY to the network drive.
BUT MY COMPUTER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN VIEW THE HYPERLINKS, it doesnt work when I try to open the hyperlink on others' PC.
And the problem is I must publish my file to a network drive. So to publish the file ONLY on the local drive will not solve the problem.
Please advise me. Thanks.
Hi Peter. the hyperlinks still don't work after i've copied the whole thing from local drive to network drive. When i click on player.html to launch the course, IE prompts the warning (Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation) shown in the attached image. I tried to edit the settings but it seems that the current setting already allows info to be saved... do you have any ideas?
sorry for missing the image.
Hi Rachel and Tse,
Sorry for all the trouble getting with the hyperlinks. It sounds like you might be publishing the course for web or LMS, but trying to test the course locally. You should not test web or LMS content offline due to browser and Flash player security restrictions. If you're distributing your content offline, you should publish for CD and launch the presentation via Launch_Presentation.exe. If you're planning on distributing your content online, you should upload the content to your web server or LMS, and test it there.
But if you continue to experience issues, please feel free to contact our support team, and they'll be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on. Thanks!
