Menu disappears and Interactions are locked when publishing

Jan 03, 2014

I'm having an issue publishing a course in Presenter.  I have 3 engage interactions inserted into slides within my course.  When I preview the course, the menu is visible during the interaction slides and the slides advances to the next slide with no problem.  Once I publish the course, however, the menu disappears and I become locked within the interaction and am unable to advance within the course.  I have adjusted just about everything I can think of.  I have enabled the previous and next buttons within the interaction in engage.  I have customized the slide properties to be free navigation and to include previous and next.  I have changed every setting and the result is the same every time.  I'm locked within the interaction.  Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?  I'm sure I'm missing a simple step.  At least I hope I am.

Hi Manta and welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about the trouble - that does sound odd.

Can you tell me which version ('13 or '09) of Studio you're currently using for your project?

Also, how are you viewing the published version of the project? Try to make sure you're not viewing the published output files locally.

If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

If this is happening after you've uploaded the project to an LMS or web server, please try clearing your browser cache or try testing the course in a different web browser.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

I'm having a similar issue, with '13. I have to store the file locally or on a network drive for previews.  The navigation buttons disappear from my interaction when previewing and publishing.

Also, is there a way to remove the interaction from the main "presenter" navigation?  I'm sure there is, but I'm not aware of it (a link to a tutorial would be awesome!)

Thanks in advance!

Cassie

Hi Cassie!

With the release of Update 3 for Articulate Studio '13, you can now control how the Prev and Next buttons behave for Articulate Engage interactions embedded in Articulate Presenter courses. The navigation buttons can either jump to the previous/next step in the interaction or the previous/next slide in the overall presentation. See this article for details.

I'm not sure what you mean by removing the interaction from the presenter navigation, unless you mean the way the navigation is handled as I shared above.
