Messages not showing up

Oct 22, 2014

We have a course where there is a video that plays from a webpage as a web object. The users are not allowed to skip the video, it is timed with a silent audio track that runs the length of the video.

The issue, if the user clicks the next button or right arrow, the presenter shadows(for the message) but the message can not be seen, this is the "Back Only" message. How do you get the messages to appear over top of a web object?

Articulate Presenter 09, Windows 7 Pro, Office 2010.

Apologies if this question was already answered, can not search the forum.

Hi Dan!

AWeb Objectwill always display as the top level item on a slide. If you click on the presenter bio, the email buttons, or a toolbar menu item while viewing a Web Object, the Web Object will obscure the option you selected.

You can workaround this Flash limitation in one of the following ways:

  • Display the slide that contains the Web Object inSlide Onlyview viaSlide Properties > Change View, which will hide the player elements, so that they do not inadvertently appear behind the Web Object.
  • Use the unsupported solution described inthis article, which involves inserting a SWF file into the Web Object slide.

Thank you for the quick reply.

The first option, does not address the issue at hand. We are not concerned about the presenter bio, email, or toolbar menus not showing up, we are concerned about the, program messages such as 'Back only' generated by Articulate. These items should be top level, above everything else as they impact the flow of the program. If the program message is not cleared the user can not advance nor can they go backwards, they are stuck and have to close and restart the program over. This is a serious flaw in the program and should really be addressed.

The second option, while it is not the prettiest, it does work.

Has this top level issue for the program messages been addressed in Presenter 13? We were thinking about upgrading but are going more towards this style of learning and do not want to have to use a third party program for each web object we use.
