Moodle (2.0.3) + Presenter don't like each other anymore ?

Sep 16, 2011

Hi - I've been using Moodle 1.9 for some time now and embedding Articulate Presenter files into webpages from the userdata directory. We've been forced to move to Moodle 2.0.3+ (Build: 20110719) which I was happy about but no matter how hard I try, I can't get Articulate Presenter (flash) files to load from the Repository folder I create for each module. I have tested that the files I FTP to the repository folder are working OK and not corrupted and can't see any reason for the problem - (sobbing gently). I have tried this on 3  2.0 sites and they all do the same - as you know, Articulate Presenter creates two folders with multiple files in them (mainly swf) and a player.html file which is the file I launch in a frame within the webpage (or I link to the file to open in a new window) - all I get now is a blank screen - no errors - just a blank screen!!

Is this a permissions issue?

Or is it a fundemental issue with 2.0 that we can't get round? There must be others that have the same problem - but I've serached the forums finding only SCORM issues with 2.0 and Presenter - which I dont actually need. I've attached an image of the ftp area. Your help would be appreciated as I am REALLY stuck and have tried so many things for the last 5 hours with no success - I am gonna have to work all night to catch up !! Cheers Mike.

GOOD NEWS - for anyone trying to use ARTICULATE with MOODLE 2.0.

I have found an extremely easy way round the problem of transferring Articulate files and folders to the new moodle course file area - all types of Articulate files now work exaclty as they did before.

You will need two excellent PLUGINS - (they work together) called :  coursefilearea and repo_filemanager . These are really useful as when used together they create a folder structure which moodle 2.0 can use which mimics 1.9.

This means I can now FTP any files and folders directly to (numbered) course folders as I did with Moodle 1.9 - this gets round the problem of using the new file structure and file picker in moodle 2.0.

All Articulate Presenter, Articulate Engage and Articulate Quizmaker files work exactly as they did in Moodle 1.9 and they can again be embedded in a frame which looks very professional. They can also be amended without hassle via FTP.

Phew ... I was really worried there for a moment.

So for all MOODLE 2.0 users - I can't recommend the the two Moodle Plugins mentioned above highly enough - the developers really deserve a medal - and I can relax now.

Thanks again.

HI Mike,

any chance you could write some form of moodledocs wiki page, blog post with screenshots or something similar on using the plugins as a SCORM repo? - there's a lot of interest in the forums about this at the moment and it sounds like you may have found a viable solution that might meet a lot of peoples requirements.
