Multiple audio all plays on Slide 1 - Help!

Oct 19, 2011

Hi,

I've been creating eLearning for a few years now, but am relatively new to Articulate. Hope someone can assist, I've checked all forums and other sites, but can't find any help regarding this issue..

My course is only 5 slides long, and each slide has a seperate audio file. It runs fine in PowerPoint, but when I publish in Articulate,  the course loads all 5 audio tracks play on load (over the top of each other). Once these all finish, I can then navigate the course and each audio plays correctly..

I've tried numerous solutions. As mentioned each slide has its own audio file, and it plays fine in PowerPoint so I haven't accidently loaded all audio files onto Slide 1. I tried even having 1 long audio file, and splitting it up with markers, but again it just makes all slide audio play on the first slide. I also tried embedding the audio in the PowerPoint itself rather than Articulate, again same issue with all audio playing.

I'm using an articulate template developed by an external company. When I use other templates, the audio runs fine. My guess is there is an issue with the template I'm using, but had hoped someone could offer more insight. Or am I just a newbie and have selected some wrong settings when publishing?

Also on a slightly side note, I have the .artpkg file for the template. I'm just getting into articulate and using templates. I'm guessing this .artpkg file is just the published template files, and not the source files I'd need to try editing the template myself?

Thanks to anyone who can assist, look forward to joining the community here in the future

Regards

Dan.

Hi Daniel and welcome to Heroes!

If you have a published presentation in which audio from multiple slides is playing simultaneously, it may indicate that there are PowerPoint shapes (text boxes or objects) in your presentation that have been named with special characters. You can correct this issue. Here’s how:

And yes, you're right about the .artpkg files - you would need the corresponding SDK and the source files from whoever created those. Additionally, .artpkg files can be either a custom Articulate player skin OR an Engage community interaction.
Helpful?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply. I checked the PowerPoint and there were some shapes with special characters i.e. ~, but unfortunately removing them hasn't helped.

I also tried making a blank PowerPoint with 3 slides, adding an audio to each blank slide, and trying to publish. Again with the template I'm using it plays all 3 audio files on launch. As mentioned it's only occuring with this particular template I'm trying to use, it publishes fine with other templates.

Any other recommendations people might have? Or is it time to go back to the developers and ask an updated template to fix the issue?

Thanks again for the help.

Hi Dan,

When I have had strange issues, sometimes it has helped to create a new PPT side and copy the content to the new slide, then delete the original first slide completely.  Also, resaving the PPT in a different name to.

Make sure you don't have audio listed as individual files and also entered into the Audio Editor too.

Just trying different ideas.

George
