Music stops when navigation restricted

Jan 19, 2018

Hello,

I have restricted navigation on my Articulate project. When I upload my Articulate zip file to the LMS and attempt to click outside the navigation parameters, the background music stops (not the narration) and will not come back on until the next slide is clicked. Is there a way to keep the BG music playing even if a user attempts to click on a restricted section of the e-learning module?

Thank you!

Hi Chrysti,

Storyline doesn't have a built in background music/playlist feature like Presenter does - so did you use some of the custom examples shared here in the E-Learning  Heroes community to set this up?

If so, I'd look to those community members for ideas as they may have run into the same thing. It's also worth testing your course in another environment to see if your LMS is contributing to this. Take a look at how to test in SCORM Cloud - easy, fast and free!

Hi there Chrysti,

I'm happy to help you narrow this down, and I have a few questions to start:

  • What version of Storyline are you using?
  • Does this problem happen in Storyline preview, or only after the file is hosted on the LMS?
  • Would you mind sharing a copy of your file with me so I can get a better idea of how the background music is set up?

Actually Chrysti, that was my mistake! You posted your question in the correct Presenter forum, but I overlooked that and assumed you were using Storyline. So sorry for the confusion!

Yes, I can definitely still help! Here's what I'll need from you:

  1. First, create an Articulate Package. Click here to find out how to do that.
  2. Attach the zipped package to a new thread comment by clicking here.

I'll be standing by!

Thanks, Chrysti. I tested your file again, and now I noticed the music stops when you try to skip ahead in the menu. Here's a screen recording of my testing.

Would you mind sending us the un-published version of your file so we can open it and take a look at your set-up? To do this, first create an Articulate Package.

Then, attach the package to this form. After submitting the form, you'll be given a case number. Please let me know what that number is so I can follow along with your case!
