Name Variables Cutting Off When Displayed in Storyline 2

I was recently updating a course and encountered an issue with the Name Variable displaying entirely. It worked in the previous versions, but suddenly it was not working consistently in the newest editted version.

Users are asked to enter First Name, then Last Name separately, and the names entered are immediately displated after doing so. There was no problem there, but at the end of the course when the names are used again the course would sometimes cut off the first letter of the First or Last name.

This was strange because the same variable is used on the same screen and the other one displayed perfectly everytime. After testing repeatedly I found the only difference was that the variable that was capitalized in the reference was working perfectly. Length didn't appear to be an issue, and that seemed to work fine either way. This is strange since the variable name itself is not capitalized.

Any ideas how or why this is happening? The only thing that had changed was an upgrade to the newest version of Storyline 2 Version 7.
