Next button timing

Feb 17, 2014

I am trying to see if there is a way in Presenter 13 for students to be required to spend a certain amount of time on a slide before being able to hit the previous/next buttons.  If I lock the navigation, that means that they can't use the built in buttons at all, and I would have to have hyperlinks on each page (which I could then time).

Is there a way that i am able to allow students to hit the previous next buttons after spending say 20 seconds on that slide?

This is a tough one - seems like Articulate could make this setting a little easier to find.

There is a setting in the Player options that allows you to set your navigation to Free, Restricted or Locked.  Restricted allows learners to move backwards to slides they've already viewed, but they cannot move forward until the entire slide is finished.  This may be what you're looking for.

To get to the setting,

  1. Click on the Player button in the Articulate menu
  2. Select Menu
  3. Click on the little "gear" icon at the bottom of the menu
  4. Set your navigation options...

Here is a decent tutorial that explains in more detail, and this specific section is almost at the bottom of the tutorial under "Changing the navigation method" - http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/customizing-the-player-menu-in-articulate-presenter.aspx

Hope this helps!
