I have been working pretty intensively with the Center for the past two weeks come and noticed sporadic issue: some other time, in the player properties window do not see the custom options button. Basically, sometimes the button is just not there.
This is important, because I want my presentations to play at the user's browser window size, not just at the "optimal" player size.
Does anyone know why this feature is not always available?
I'm not exactly sure which option you're referring to. Do you mean the "Custom" section of the ribbon that's available through the "Player" settings? I believe this is what's missing for you, but if not, please let me know.
There shouldn't be any reason for this option to be disabled. Is the entire section of the ribbon missing here, or just a specific option ("Colors & Effects", "Text Labels" and/or "Other")? I'm guessing the "Other" option is missing if you're not able to specify the browser options, but I'm curious to know whether any other options are missing.
In either case, I would recommend trying a quick repair first:
I'll try the fixes you suggest, but the "Other" button is just not there, per my previous screen capture (attached again here). Without it, there is no way to set the presenter window to resize automatically with browser size. Then I'm stuck with the default "optimal size."
Thank you for the screenshot - so it is only the "Other" option that's missing.
If that's the case, it's certainly something going on with the installation. If you haven't already, please be sure to follow the installation troubleshooting steps in the articles I linked earlier.
Thanks, I think I'll reinstall both Presenter and PowerPoint to see if that resolves the issue. By the way, does Presenter work better with the 32 bit or 64 bit version of Powerpoint?
I've done a complete reinstall of Powerpoint 13 (32 bit) and Presenter 13. The first time I opened up "Player settings", the "Other" button was there. The second time, it was gone.
I've found a rather awkward work-around: I also have Presenter on my laptop, with the "Other" button in place, as it should be. I take a copy of my PowerPoint over to the laptop long enough to open it up and select variable window size. Then I cart it back to my desktop machine for publication. Seems that once a presentation has been tagged for the variable size option, it stays that way.
I'm just wondering if anyone else is running into this issue?
Please create a package using the steps outlined in the article above. If the file isn't too large, you should be able to attach it to your response.
If you're not able to share the file, are you able to share the specific settings you're using in the file that causes the option to break? Also, you're placing the project files on your local hard drive (usually the C: drive) before opening it, correct?
It's been a few weeks since our last exchange, and I have gone on to publish 14 new webinars with Presenter '13 at: www.Export-U2.com.
However, I still have the issue of the missing "Other" button. It doesn't matter which PPT I'm using, and I'm working on my "C" drive. I've reinstalled Presenter and Microsoft office several times.
I'm still having to move the presentations over to my laptop to publish them with variable size.
Hi Robert! I've not seen this reported before, and I know that you mentioned that you have re-installed several times, but did you go through all of the troubleshooting that was previously shared in this article to see if you can get a good clean install?
Hi Bob. I suddenly started seeing the same thing. No reason why. The repair did not work. Uninstall and reinstall did not work initially, but after 2 reboots things are looking okay. Fingers crossed!

Sorry, should have been "Presenter", not 'Center"... my voice recognition software is not perfect.

vHi Bob,
It will only work with the 32-bit installation type.
Articulate Studio '13 requires a 32-bit desktop version of Microsoft Office. It won't work with:
Studio '09 also only works with the 32-bit installation of Office as well.
I hope that helps!
Let me know if the reinstallation of both programs solves the problem.
Thanks, Bob!

Hi Bob,
That is incredibly strange - but I'm glad you were able to find out what's causing this.
Are you able to share a file where this happens? I'd like to test it on my end, if possible.

I believe I did everything suggested in the article, but didn't turn off UAC. Could that cause such an issue??
I have administrative privileges because this is my own machine.

This was reported last year also (http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/40703.aspx) and the uninstall seemed to fix it.
I hope it doesn't come back!

Check the DPI setting on your computer. It has to be 96 DPI.
