Not able to export the text for translation

Apr 23, 2014

We are not able to export the text for translation with Presenter. We had the same issue with Storyline in the past, but then cleaning clipboard helped. However, it doesn't help with presenter. Please advise.

Thanks!

Hi there Hanna,

Can you tell us a little more about what happens when you attempt to export, please? Are you reviewing any error messages, crashing, etc.?

Please make sure that you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If that doesn't fix the problem, please try repairing Studio '13:

Articulate Support - How to Repair Articulate Studio '13

If you still have trouble with this, please try to share some additional information on what's happening and whether or not this issue is specific to a project file.

Thanks!

Hi Hanna,

If the title contains special characters, you can try changing it temporarily. Try renaming it and see if the export process is successful.

If the file name itself contains the characters, be sure to change that and avoid them. Mainly dashes, spaces, underscores - but accents may possibly cause trouble as well.

Let me know if you see any improvement or if your engineer is able to provide some information.

Thanks!

Hi All,

This seems to be an issue again with Studio 360.  Any time I attempt to export an XLF or Word document for translation, the application crashes and the Exporting Translation window just hangs and never does anything.  I then have to force PowerPoint and Articulate Studio to quit.

Any new ideas on how to address the issue?  I have already attempted the previously mentioned recommendations.

Thank you.

Hi Betsy,

So sorry to hear about this. I'm happy to jump in!

I used Presenter 360 Update 8.25.21221.0, where I'm having difficulty recreating the crash during the translation process:

To help us determine the right path, could you let me know:

  • What version of Presenter 360 are you using?
  • Where are you trying to exporting the files? (Specifically, the folder or area on your computer.)

Hi Katie,

I am using the same version of Presenter 360 and still run into an issue with exporting to both formats where it crashes.  I have even tried simplifying the course file to a basic course filename, moved it to the C drive, and have tried exporting the files to the same C: drive folder.

Any other thoughts?

Thank you.

Good morning, Betsy!

I appreciate those extra details, and you're taking all the right troubleshooting steps.

Does the crash happen in Quizmaker and Engage as well? If yes, I recommend a simple repair of Studio if you haven't already:

If that doesn't help, let's connect with our Support team for fast help. They'll draw a few system logs to help us determine the best way forward:
