Not the same..!

Feb 07, 2012

This has been happening for a while now, so can't pinpoint at what point things changed? My move to Windows 7 and re-installing Articulate? - I'm not sure ... But...

If you take a look at this image, on the left is the PowerPoint and the right is the Published screen.

Note: Arrows are not the same style and lines are not straight... This happens all the time now and as it never used to - does anyone have any suggestions as to what this might be?

Big thanks, Graham

In general, I have found that some microsoft objects convert a little weird.  Smart Art being the strangest of all, for sure.  When I encounter those kinds of issues, I typically copy and paste the object back in the PPT as a Picture (PNG).  I never have any issues when I do that, as the item is no longer a microsoft object, but a graphic.

The same difference applies though, sometimes objects are converted incorrectly, the workaround Ron suggests is also the same workaround the articulate guys will suggest

My best suggestion when working with lots of objects is to preview frequently, you then get to see  what works and what doesnt, dotted lines and arrows frequentlty look different when published, really it is the nature of converting vectors to flash because they are not brought into flash as vectors

I am sure Articulate are not happy and will be working on making it better in the next version, I cannot see Studio 09 getting a fix though

I understand what you are saying Phil, it;s just that from having 2000+ slides full of lines that published ok to then be told that after upgrading to 2010, Articulate can't cope with a simple line and I have to spend months re-saving as pngs... what's next? Circles are not round, Squares turn into Triangles?  This is simple stuff and I'm sure Articulate's competitors can convert a line for publishing...

Ok, Arrows and dotted lines, understood, but I think that someone needs to say "Yes, it's embarassing that lines don't convert - we need to fix that now - not for the next release!"
