Oracle PeopleSoft LMS - unable to acquire LMS API

Dec 13, 2013

Hi - I have a client trying to run my Articulate content (SCORM 1.2) on Oracle PeopleSoft, but gets an error saying "An error has occured:Error - unable to acquire LMS API, content may not play properly and results may not be recorded.  Please contact technical support.Press 'OK' to view debug information to send to technical support."

I checked on the forums here; saw that the should check to see if Java is compatible with their LMS. Oracle told them that the code document.domain = 'unisource.corp'; needs to be added to any line in the html that says "<script language="JavaScript"> or <script language="JavaScript1.2">"  We tried that, but still get the error. Has anyone come across this? Any ideas on how to fix? The log file they get is below:

Hi Steve,

You're right, there's a few threads out there on this, and a couple that I've worked with:

Error - Unable to acquire LMS API

Urgent : PeopleSoft LMS cannot display the content

From what I'm seeing, installing the latest Java version from Sun seems to help the most often. I've yet to see anything from developers stating they need to modify the files the same way you mentioned, however - not sure how that would help, but hopefully if that's the issue you'll be able to get that working.

Have you also tested the course in SCORM Cloud? If so, what was the outcome there?

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

Hmm - well, it's good to know that it's working in your LMS and SCORM Cloud.

Hopefully your client will be able to try updating their Java and see if that does the trick. If not, Oracle will need to work with them for bypassing their restrictions. It sounds a little odd that they're asking that the course be modified to work around the system they have in place.

Let us know how if you hear any updates.

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the update and sorry to hear that this is still not working properly.

I'm quite sure which version you're using. If you're using '09 to publish the project, have you tried this process already?

1)  Open your presentation in PowerPoint.

2)  Go to Articulate > Player Templates.
3)  Select the "Other" tab.
4)  Deselect (uncheck) "Launch presentation in new window".
5)  Close the Player Template manager, and save the change when prompted.
6)  Publish your presentation for LMS using the newly saved player template, and test the content in your LMS.
