Packaging

Mar 10, 2014

When I package my presentation it marks the presentation as "Read-Only" and then I have to save it as another name. Is this what it is supposed to do?

If so, when I want to continue working on the presentation, do I open the packaged version?

Presenter '13 is not an improvement in my mind, I was very comfortable with Presenter '09. The new version is causing a lot more work.

I am working on my local drive and then saving it to the network because our IT department does not backup our local drives. This is becoming a nightmare as far as trying to keep track of what version I am working in and where it is housed!

Hi Ginger!

The workflow here helps to avoid loss of resources, file corruption, and other erratic behavior when working with other developers. It sounds as if you are needing to follow this workflow just for yourself, so be sure that you are utilizing the packaged version.

I'm not sure what you mean by the new version is causing more work?

In Presenter '09, I did not have to move my files to my local drive. I was VERY successful on a shared network drive. Now am working on my local drive, packaging it to a backup network drive. Then 9 time out of 10, when I go back to work in the file on my local drive, some of the audio is not working -- which means I then have to do the audio over again.

By working on two separate drives, I have to keep track of when I last packaged the presentation and what slides I need to re-do the audio on.

I cannot work strictly on my local drive because our company does not backup that drive.

My issue with the workflow is that every time I pacakge my presentation, it marks the file as 'Read Only'. In order to save the file after packaging, I have to give it another name. Now I have two copies of the file on my local drive.

This should not be this difficult!

Hi Ginger!

Are you not receiving the prompt to 'Enable Editing' when you are opening up your file? Are  you unzipping/extracting the contents prior to additional work in the project?

I'm going to open a case on your behalf so that you can perhaps share a screencast of you the process that you are going through and we can understand what is happening.
