Pixels on videos - poor quality

Dec 19, 2013

Hi,

I've inserted a video from a file via articulate (2013).  When I preview the slide it looks great, however, after publishing to web the quality is dreadful.  There are lots of pixels - it looks very grainy.  I am publishing to fill the browser.  Do you think that's what's causing the issue?  When I insert the video into the slide almost fills it, but I am resizing to make it smaller by dragging the edges of the video.  Any tips would gratefully be received.

Thanks

Sonya

Hi Sonya,

We are investigating some issues regarding the published output of Studio '13 presentations. It may be related to that, or it could simply be an issue of published quality settings.

Here's a discussion on the issue we're currently testing:

Poor MP4 Video Quality in Presenter 2013

I would recommend subscribing to that thread, as we'll be updating it with any new information as soon as we have it.

I would also suggest checking the publish quality settings for your videos - if this is set lower, it may be causing the blurriness and pixelization you're seeing.

To check the settings click on "Publish". From here, select the method you'd like to use for publishing. On this window, you'll see an option with a link to the right (the position of this option may vary, depending on the option you choose).

Under the "Properties" section on the right-hand side, there will be a "Quality" option with a link. Click on that link to modify your publish quality settings:

It may also depend on how you're viewing the published project. Try to make sure that you're not viewing the published files locally as this can sometimes cause issues with videos and other elements of your course.

If you view a published Studio '13 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

I know this is a lot of information, but I hope it helps!

Thanks, Sonya :)
