Play/Pause not changing to flashing green at end of interaction

Aug 19, 2011

I am not sure if this problem is in Presenter or Engage, or an issue with my audio files. But I inserted an Engage interaction, with audio, and at the end of the audio the Forward/Back/Pause controller does not change to the green blinking play button. (The Next Slide button does appear.) In the same pptx file I have several Engage interactions that are working properly, but several other interactions that are not. I am not seeing any differences in options, audio files, etc, and wondered if anyone else has run across this and has any suggestions. Thanks!

It seems that this may be related to the audio - deleting an audio file and importing a new mp3 file. When I deleted the audio from one of the interactions that did not set the green blinking play button, the interaction worked correctly. Let me know any feedback around deleting and then importing audio on interactions!

Hi Laura,

You may find that an Engage '09 interaction in a Presenter '09 presentation does not fully complete if the last step of the interaction contains audio.  If this occurs, you may notice that the Play button on the Presenter player does not flash to indicate that the viewer is able to proceed, or you may not be able to proceed to the next slide if the navigation in your player template is set to Restricted.

You can correct this issue.  Here's how:

  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Navigate to the interaction slide, and click the Edit in Engage button.
  3. When Engage launches, select the last step of your interaction.
  4. Click the Edit Audio button.
  5. When the Audio Editor launches, either delete a small portion of silence at the end of the audio waveform, or insert 1 second of silence at the end of the audio waveform.  Essentially, you want to slightly change the duration of this last step in the interaction.
  6. Click the Save & Close button.
  7. Click the Save and Return to Presenter button.
  8. Republish your presentation.
