Player Controls - Prompt to resume problems

Jan 17, 2012

Can you deselect this feature and still have the course SCORM complaint? Is there a work around for this?

If not, I think this is something the developers of Articulate need to allow for in the future. I build custom Flash course shells and apply SCORM to them. We do not prompt a user, rather, the course closes as needed when they exit and it bookmarks the information in the LMS. When the user returns to the course, it returns them to the page/slide that they left off at. Once they complete the course, and the course is marked completed, it resets the page value to start from the introduction.

I've found that this prompt to resume feature causes some problems, and we really don't want them to have this capability until they have completed the course.

Please advise any useful tips you may have. I've been keeping track of the suspend data calls, and it seems to be a bigger problem with Articulate vs. Captivate or Flash. Why does it call suspend data so often?

I notice that if I don't have the prompt to resume, the LMS does not record tracking data of the page that I left off in SCORM Cloud. It shows the information of how many slides I viewed, but no bookmarking. Please advise how I can avoid the prompt to resume feature, but still track where a user leaves off in a course.

The resume functionality has no impact on status. An LMS will track what you have viewed and it will mark a course as complete provided you view the content in one active session. All the resume allows you to do is to view content over multiple attempts from where you left off last. It has zero impact on status. If you are resuming a course and you say no to the prompt to resume it simply means you need to start over but that wouldn't impact the current status of a course.
