Player freezes if user selects another tab in browser

May 12, 2015

Has anyone seen the player freezing if the user navigates to another open tab when pausing the module? User paused the module to view a video from youtube (we weren't able to add the video to the presentation), once video was completed they could not continue in the module where they left off. The whole player was frozen. Any information would be helpful.

Hi Alexi,

I haven't seen that behavior before - where are you hosting your course (LMS vs. web)? You could also try hosting in one of the sites here to see if that exhibits different behavior.  What browser were they viewing the course in? You'll want to make sure that you're using one of the supported browsers here. Is it only happening to that one user? Were they able to refresh the page and allow it to work again?

Hi Alexi,

This is also happening to me.  I have over 16 different courses and they all do this.  It's such a pain- I wish I had a solution to this too.  I have spoken to 3 other moodle/articulate users and they are also having the same problem.  I'm also having an issue with the videos in my SCORM file playing all the way through in my LMS (Moodle).  They either get cut off early and/or take forever to start.

Ashley - you asked about refreshing the page.  For me, this does work, however it starts you out at the beginning of the course and if you try to navigate to another section, it freezes all over again.

Looking forward to finding a solution to these issues!

Hi Julia,

You mentioned you're hosting the courses in Moodle - have you tried hosting one in SCORM Cloud to see if it exhibits the same behavior? It's an industry standard for testing SCORM content so a good way to understand where/what is happening. Also, what browser(s) are you using to test the content? I'm happy to give it a test as well if you'd like to share a link to the published course.

Studio '13 will also stream the video content as described here. So if your videos are not behaving as expected, again we may need to take a look at the Presenter files, and you'll want to create a Presenter package as described here.  You can share it here in the forums or send along here.
