I'm guessing I'm missing something really small and simple. I am trying to use a player template that has the slide and player controls across the bottom (no navigation sidebar). No matter what I try, I get the slide with the player controls collapsed in the bottom right corner. Any ideas?
Looks like you have your course set to Slide Only view. Slide only view shows neither the sidebar nor the player control panel at the bottom of the player. It's just a plain and simple view of the slide. However, depending on which player controls you've enabled on your player template, a few control options might appear in the lower-right corner, such as the play/pause button, a view mode toggle button, and a button that allows learners to access slide notes.
If you want to display the player controls you've selected, you can choose one of the other view modes under Player Templates > Layout.
Here's a tutorial on View Modes, and here's one on Player Controls.
