I'm trying to create a pseudo-popup window using triggers and animations. First, a trigger with appear animations and then another on a close button with disappear animations. However, the objects appear onscreen when the slide begins playing even though there appear animations should not yet have been triggered. Help?
Entrance animations will start as soon as the object appears on the slide and the timeline. If I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like you're trying to trigger this effect. Is that right? If so, I'm not sure how you'd go about doing this.
Can you give a little more information or share the .STORY file, so I can get a better idea of what you'd like to happen with the popup?
I thought you could trigger entrances with clicks on certain objects, no? The animation pane is showing it as Trigger: (object to click) with the entrance animations beneath...
It's not a STORY file, it's just a .pptx - I'm using Presenter.
The problem I have with that is that upon returning to the original slide, the audio plays again. Also, the audio cannot be accessed on the hidden slide without it also playing again there. Unless there's a solution to these problems?

Hi Shylah,
Ah, shoot, sorry about that!
Not sure why I was thinking you were using Storyline. I apologize. In that case, ignore what I stated earlier :)
Can you tell me what type of animations you're using? Can you confirm they're supported PowerPoint animations, please?
Here's an article that covers both the unsupported and supported PowerPoint animations for Presenter:
Supported PowerPoint Animations
Thanks very much, Shylah. And sorry for the misinterpretation again!
Christine
All animations are fades at this point, which appear to be supported. Thanks!
Great, thank you! :)
Can you tell me when they appear to be out of sync? Does this happen when you're previewing the presentation, or after you've published?
Christine
It happens both in preview and after published.
Hi Shylah,
I just read through the supported animations again. Actually, it looks like it's not a problem with the animation, but the trigger itself.
Take a look:
Are you able to use a different trigger for this, rather than the "on click"?
Thanks!
Christine
The best way in presenter to do this is to use a different hidden slide
The problem I have with that is that upon returning to the original slide, the audio plays again. Also, the audio cannot be accessed on the hidden slide without it also playing again there. Unless there's a solution to these problems?
No, I cannot use a different trigger - it's a button that learners can optionally click on to review extra content.
you dont need to return to the same slide, you could go back to a duplicate without audio.
Well the audio would need to be there so they could seek back in the slide. Is there a way to auto-stop audio?
I dont think so I havent used Presenter for a long time.
This is the only way I know to do a popup effectively, sorry
