PowerPoint error - articulate presenter ribbon problem
Aug 31, 2011
Good morning,
I was working in PowerPoint this morning, and previewed a few slides in Articulate. After closing the preview and making some changes, I tried to preview the full presentation but the preview window drop-downs for the starting and ending slide were empty. I closed PowerPoint, then opened it again, and tried to repeat my steps, but the same thing happened. I then closed all of my desktop applications, rebooted by machine, and tried to re-launch PowerPoint. Now I am getting a Microsoft PowerPoint error that reads:
"PowerPoint experienced a serious problem with the 'articulate presenter ribbon' add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?" Yes or No.
I'm not sure what to do here. I have never seen this error before. If I click Yes and disable the add-in, I'm afraid I won't be able to access my Articulate tools.
Can anyone offer any help?

I would just say No and make sure everything is OK.
I was able to locate an article here in the e-learning community which provided the instructions I was looking for. The issue was that I was trying to manipulate the PowerPoint file through a shared drive. As soon as I clicked 'No' to the error message, closed PowerPoint, then copied the files down to my local drive, then re-opened PowerPoint, all of my tools came back and are working properly.
Here's the link I found in another post, in case someone else is seeing this same issue:

Thanks for sharing! Yes, working on a network drive is not a good idea.
Hi Geri,
Did you leave the Slide Properties window open for an extended period of time? If so, see the link below:
