Whatever you do, never click YES here. Disabling the add-in is a bad idea because it can be a pain to turn it back on. Just click NO and usually the next time you run PowerPoint the message will not appear. Have you rebooted?
Just note that you cannot use the 64-bit version of PPT 2010 with Articulate 09. You must use the 32-bit version, or so was the case a month ago. Don't know if the new update fixed this problem or not.
Thanks! Well, one time I did say "YES" and I was able to open PowerPoint and it came up without the Presenter Toolbar. I went to "Options" and "enabled the Presenter Toolbar again, but to no avail, the tools didn't work. I completely shut down PowerPoint, and and rebooted my computer, and I still got the same screen. This time I said "No" and PowerPoint opened up and the Articulate Presenter Ribbon was there. I tried opening a file and using the Ribbon and none of the tools work. I once again shut down PowerPoint, logged out of all my programs and rebooted my computer. The same thing happens.
I have a new desktop computer and it has a 64-bit operating system. Could this have something to do with my problem? If so, is there a fix for this that you might know of?
I have a laptop that has a 32-bit operating system (it is old and runs much slower), but my licensed copy of Articulate is loaded on my desktop computer and another laptop that is also has a 64-bit operating system. My license allows me to load it only on 2 computers.
From what I've read and seen, there is no workaround for getting Articulate '09 to work with 64-bit Office 2010.
You can deactivate the license on one of your computers, and then reactivate it on the one that does have the 32-bit version of Office. Hopefully, the next major release will fix this issue.
Thanks for you post. I believe that my version of Office 2010 that I am running on my 64-bit Windows 7 operating system is the 32-bit version. That being said, are you saying that I shouldn't be experiencing these problems? Or is the problem that Articulate Presenter '09 doesn't run well on a 64-bit operating system?
Articulate runs very well on 64-bit systems, it just doesn't work with 64-bit Office 2010. It might also have been just a crash as well. I get those a couple times a week.
as you are using 2010, if you go under File then Help, it should list the version then the 32 or 64 bit note.
Thanks for the Screenshots - after I put up my post about "thinking I had Office 2010 - 32-bit" that is exactly where I went to confirm I had it. I am running Office 2010 32-bit Version.
So, I take it you are saying that since I am running Office 2010 - 32-bit Version, on a 64-bit operating system tha I should not be experiencing the issues that I am having with Articulate '09? I am at a loss as to what to do. Any advise, I really need this to be working correctly.
I was hoping an Admin or staff member would have chimed in by now, but as far as I know, it should be working okay. Does this happen all the time, or just on occasion?
Yes, I'm saying the same thing. I have seen this message but it's been a while and I don't have a record of a major fix that was required. After checking for updates and several reboots, I think the situation was corrected. I also recall a problem with Office behavior (perhaps a different one) that was caused by a glitch in my antivirus software and another that was caused by a conflict with another add-in.
You may encounter the following error message when working with PowerPoint:
"PowerPoint experienced a serious problem with the 'articulate presenter ribbon' add-in. If you have seen this message multiple times, you should disable this add-in and check to see if an update is available. Do you want to disable this add-in?"

Thank you for the link. I went and "uninstalled" Microsoft Office 2010 from my desktop computer, and have reinstalled it. I also "unistalled" and "reinstalled Adobe Flash Player as well. Hopefully, this will resolve my issues.
I am on the step of repairing Articulate Studio '09. I get the message "Locate Studio-09-update-7[1].exe and click continue." It cannot be found on my computer. Is there a way to get updates that I may have missed somehow?
I've recently experienced the same problem as Claude: "serious problem with the Articulate Presenter Ribbon" error message plus Powerpoint bombing out every time I click "Slide Properties" in the Articulate ribbon.
I'm hesitant to try the fix suggested by Brian, as reinstalling the entire Office suite and Articulate is out of the question under deadline pressure. I think part of the problem occurs with large image and attachment file size, and Presenter being unable to handle that.
Keeping your Powerpoint file below about 7 MB seems to help.
I've found the following solution, and so far it works for me. I hope this can help someone else experiencing the same frustration.
The fix I've found seems to work so far:
1. Assuming you're doing your development in Powerpoint, copy and paste all your work from your old doc into a completely new one. Do not add any Articulate components yet.
2. Save work, close down and reboot pc.
4. Restart, open the new doc. Do what you can to reduce file size, without compromising on quality. If you have lots of pictures in your doc, click Picture Tools>Format>Compress Pictures.
5. Untick "Apply only to this picture" and compress all your pics to either 96 or 150 dpi.
6. Save, and then add in all your Articulate bits. Adjust your Slide Properties and Player Templates before the file gets too big. Add any Attachments last.
Hi, We have Windows 7 32-bit OS and are using Articulate 09 along with Symantic antivirus. Articulate does not work on these machines. Whereas machines with Windows XP 32-bit OS is working fine. Any suggestions??
Can you further explain the issues that you're having? Are you having publishing issues, does the Slide Properties window not work as expected? Please clarify the issue and we'll come up with a few solutions for you to try.
Sure. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no action. Clicking any icon on the Articulate bar does not generate any response except when we click the Help and support button on these machines.
Thanks for the additional information. This typically indicates that Visual Basic for Applications is not installed. For more information on how to resolve the issue, please see the link below:
I have an old computer with Win XP Pro SP3 and Office 2007. On that I was running Presenter 7 and Captivate 5.5. Everything worked as advertised.
I purchased a new computer running Win 7 and Office 2010. Office ran without any problems. Then I decided to upgrade to Presenter 8 and Captivate 6. That is when the fun (as the problems described above) began. I installed Presenter 8 and opened PowerPoint. I received a run time error (2147467259 (80004005)). After closing the run time error box, PowerPoint opened. I clicked on the “Insert SWF” icon on the toolbar and received an error message that said “PowerPoint has experienced a serious error and must shut down”. Then another dialog box appeared suggesting I remove the Presenter Add-on. Needless to say this cycle keeps repeating about 75% of the time I attempt to use these products.
So I decided I might be able to get some limited use from the products. I created a Quiz in Captivate 6 and published it. I then copied the SWF file to a thumb drive and used my old computer to insert the SWF file into a PowerPoint created in Office 2007 and running Presenter 7. When the presentation was published the quiz was corrupted. So it appears Adobe products are not even compatible with each other.
I then went to the Adobe community forum to post my problem. I found out they have installed a clever little trick to keep anyone from posting. When I logged in I was sent to the page where you create an account. When I filled out all the information, I was told my email was in use, select another email. Duh! So it went. I was never able to post since I could not create or use my existing account.
All very frustrating when you are trying to meet deadlines. I have put the new laptop on the shelf and will use my old one until I finish this project. Then I am going to use SNAP and Qarbon. Not a full feature set but with the time I'll save I will be OK.

Claude, remember that you can run the 32-bit version of Office 2010 on a 64-bit Windows 7 operating system.

Hi Suzann and welcome to Heroes! If the installer is trying to locate a file, simply cancel out of it altogether. Download the latest installer here:
http://www.articulate.com/downloads/freetrial-step1.aspx
When prompted perform a Reinstall.

Dennis, did you mean to post this on this thread? This thread is about Articulate Presenter, not Adobe Presenter.
