PPT Crashes When Recording Audio

Feb 25, 2011

Hoping someone can help me with this...  Over the past couple of days, about 75% of the time that I record audio PPT crashes when i click Save & Close in the Record Narration window.  Then, when PPT starts up again, it offers me a recovered file that either has no audio at all, or has the audio i just recorded but none of the audio previously recorded in that course.

I repaired Office and reinstalled Presenter.  It still happened.  So I thought maybe it was a file size issue.  I did a save-as and stripped out about 3/4 of the course, leaving only the 40 slides I'm working on right now.  Recorded three screens of audio (maybe 30 seconds each), clicked Save and Close...  and PPT crashed.

Help!?  What am I doing wrong?  (Coincidentally - or maybe not - now I'm also getting the "do you want to disable this addin" message twice instead of once when PPT crashes.  I get the message, click no, get it again, and click no again.  Used to only happen once for each crash...)

Hi Sheila,

I apologize that you're still having issues.  Could you please try reinstalling Flash player using the method below?

*******Please do the following in Internet Explorer.

Uninstall your current version of the Flash Player. Follow the steps here:

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157

Download the latest version of Flash:

http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash

After that, please download the K-Lite Codec Pack Full version here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm

When the installer is downloaded, install the software, leaving everything at their default settings.  (You will need to click Next several times during the installation and then finally click Install). Accepting the defaults will publish a complete set of up-to-date codecs on your system.

Finally, restart your computer & then try to use the Record Narration feature.  If you continue to have issues, please submit a support case to us by using the link below:

I put in a Support ticket on Friday evening and got it resolved...  There was a file I had to find and rename.  For anyone who's interested, here are the steps:
