ppt hyperlink won't work in Preview mode

Aug 21, 2014

Greetings all,

I'm dusting off my copy of Articulate--it's been awhile since I used it, and I'm embarrassed to be asking something so basic!!

I'm using Studio '09 and PowerPoint 2010.

I've created a hyperlink on a shape which goes to another slide. It works fine in PowerPoint. When I preview the slides the "hand" displays showing there's a link, but then nothing happens when I click on the object.

The slide I'm linking to is not a hidden slide. (I did search the forum/support for a solution.) Also, there is no restricted or locked navigation.

So, I've just found the answer--the link may not work in preview and I need to publish it to be sure.

But now I can't delete this post!!! Moderators--feel free to delete!

Hello, sorry to bring this one up again...

We load a quiz every month with links in all correct and incorrect feedback. We haven't been able test those links in Preview mode and are forced to Publish and then load into our LMS to then test. If one link is not working, we have to re attach and then re publish and load again to test.

From the posts I have read it appears there is NO way to test a hyperlink in a course while in preview mode? Are you going to make me cry and tell me this is correct?

Thanks

K :o)

Hi Kathy,

No apologies necessary! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and I certainly don't want to make you cry, but hyperlinks are still one of the things that may not work during Preview. You'll see a list of these at the bottom of this article, which is for the latest version of Presenter 360.

Have you looked at any of the other options for testing prior to uploading to your LMS? You could test in SCORM Cloud as another option for LMS content, or you could also publish to web, and upload to Tempshare.

Let me know if you need anything else!
