.ppta file still large after removing embedded video

Jun 17, 2013

I have an Articulate 9 course where I attemped to embed an mp4 video.  I then chose to remove the slide that had the video.  But the .ppta file is still 241 MB!  How can I fix this so my .ppta file returns to the appropriate size for the course, which is only about 10 MB?

Thanks, Steve

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Steven!

First, please make sure you're modifying and saving your project on your local hard drive:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you're viewing the file through Windows Explorer, try refreshing the folder to see if the size simply wasn't updated after saving the project.

Let me know if you see any improvement in the file size.

Thanks!
