PPTA oddness

Jan 13, 2012

This morning I opened my file to make a few more changes and then publish today. I noticed that I have two PPTA files; however, one does not have -old like you might see. I've dealt with the -old before when I've lost audio and used the instructions on how to reconnect audio.

Today, I have two PPTA files. One has and underscore at the beginning of the filename like "_filename.ppta". Has anyone had this? What does it mean?  I'm afraid to proceed without knowing if this will create a problem or not.

Hi Melanie!

That's not something I've seen produced by Articulate, and because the two versions were saved only 9 minutes apart and have similar file sizes, perhaps you just accidentally renamed a copy...

You should be able to remove the old one (back it up somewhere just in case), then remove the underscore from the newer one and open. Hope that's helpful!

Peter - Just wanted to follow up with you and let you know how this worked out:

I think I had some kind of wierd Friday the 13th thing going on today.

I removed the old PPTA that had been created like you advised and then removed the underscore from the new one and opened. Then I made a minor change on two engage interactions (text-only changed), then published. The engage interactions didn't have my changes. Then I noticed an -old PPTA was newly created.

So I looked over all my files, and realized I had a few old engage .intr files that were no longer being used because I had deleted a couple engage interactions out of the PPT and built new ones. I deleted the old .intr files that were no longer needed. Then I went back into the PPT and opened up each engage interaction and each quiz and saved. Noticed it was re-generating the interactions. Then I published. Everything is fine now and the -old PPTA disappeard by itself!

Thanks for your quick response this morning!
