Presenter can't find Captivate's index.html

Jul 29, 2013

Hi! I'm new so bear with me please.

We have Articulate 9 now, having FINALLY been upgraded from 5. We have existing courseware that previously used Captivate 2 demos. We're now having to upgrade the courses and following the direction from the forums, I have updated the Captivate 2 demos to Captivate 5.5 and attempted to import the new demo as a web object. I have changed the Captivate html file name to "index.html"

In the Insert Web Object dialog box, I fill out all the information and the file path to the folder with the index.html and when I click "Test Link" or "OK", it keeps telling me "Could not locate 'index.html' or 'index.htm' in the specified folder. It's the correct folder, so I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Is there a character limit on file paths? What else can I do?

Thank you in advance!

Marcia

Hi Marcia,

Some other things to consider:

  • Is the Captivate file located on your local drive or a network drive? If it's on a network drive it may be a permissions issue.
  • I know you were not able to view it when clicking on the "Test link" button, but did you try to view it in the published output?
  • Another thought, would be to upload the Captivate file to a web server and then link it as a web object.
  • Here are some best practices to review in regards to adding Captivate movies.

Let us know if any of those work!
