Presenter freezes during publishing and puts up error 1223
Oct 19, 2011
Hi
I've been trying to publish a Presenter file and it stops working after five or so slides. In fact, it appears to finish the publish (even though there are 58 slides in all). Then it freezes, and eventually an error 1223 message appears. I have to get out of it via Task Manager. When I open the file again, PowerPoint tells me there was a 'serious problem' with the Articulate add-in ribbon and I should disable it and look for updates. I've tried this once; there are no updates. Therefore I enabled the add-in.
I've restarted the whole computer, to no avail. The same thing has happened four times in a row.
I have Office 2010 and, as far as I know, the latest version of Articulate.
It's important that I resolve this issue; this file is for a client who'll need it soon!
Thanks.

Hi Anne,
The first thing you should check is to make sure that your presentation is located on your local hard drive (this is typically your C: drive), and that your publish location is also to your local hard drive. Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior.
If you continue to have issues, have a look at this troubleshooting article: http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=497

Good luck!
Hi Peter
Thanks for your help. The files are indeed on my hard drive (we already knew this was the best location), so I'll try the links.
Hi Peter
Just tried to publish using my home laptop, and it worked (well, there are some issues on the slides, but that's a separate thing). I have PowerPoint 2007 on my machine here. Could that be the problem?
Anne
Hi Anne,
PowerPoint 2007 on its own wouldn't be the problem. Here are the system requirements for creating content with Articulate Studio '09:

Were you able to follow the links related to the specific error codes you received?
