How can I make the menu in my presentation to be autofilled. When I open "Slide Properties" and click "Edit Menu" I have the option to rename, hide and move text left or right. Sometimes some of the slides already have names and i can't figure out why. Is there any setting I could use to let the program recognize what should be the name used for each particular slide?

On slides that have a placeholder for a 'title' will include this title as the slide name and populate it in the menu as well.
For example, in the default Office Theme, take a look at each of the layouts that includes a 'title' field:
