Presenter opens flash player download site even with course workin

Sep 14, 2012

I have been using Aticulate package for almost 2 years now and I hadn't seen this happen before. The way I always do is I create a course using flash (in this case cs6) where each "slide" is a separate swf. I then insert each one in a slide in power point and publish for the LSM.

The problem thats happening is: the course is working ok, all swfs load and play without any problem and exactly like they should. HOWEVER, suddenly, at different points in the course (I tested on firefox and chrome), presenter opens this link in a new tab http://get.adobe.com/br/flashplayer/. After this happens, presenter goes crazy and start restarting the course, going to the first slide and bugging the alignment of the swf in the slide.

What's bugging me the most is that it's actually working asside from presenters bad mood.

I have tested the swfs outside of presenter, opening with the broswer and the same doesn't happen. This leads me to believe that the problem is some incompatibility between the swfs and presenter.

But what???

please help

Welcome to Heroes, Gustavo!

That doesn't sound like anything I'm familiar with. Are you able to send us your project files so we can take a closer look at it? Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, Peter. I have created a new powerpoint file, included the swfs as usual and tested for the bug. It's still happening. Seemingly it's the swf in the first slide causing the problem, even though it's compiling without errors and working perfectly outside of presenter. But again, it is kinda random WHERE it will happen. All I know is without that swf it doesn't happen. I included a screenshot of the "swf offset bug" as I call it so that you can see what happens after presenter starts to restart itself. I'm hoping you can reproduce the bug and have an idea of why presenter doesn't like my swf. I uploaded the file for support and it has the name of: ciser_problematic_package-20120917-0441.zip thanks :)

Yes I have been following the guideliness and if I have missed something I don't realize what it might be.

Movie is at 30fps, 720x540px, as2, not referencing root. The programming there is not complex and rather
clean. I can send the .fla file that I think is the problem if you find it might help in any way. Tell me in which version to send.

Some of the codes in there are about playing sound from the library, changing frames on simple button events, and there is also
a part of it where I use setTimeout to make the character stop moving the mouth sinced to the narration.

I have tried stripping most of the elements away from the movie to see if I could identify a problematic part. Aparently the
sound is fine, as is the character animation and code. When I just have the buttons making another movieclip change frames it also
produces the weird behavior from presenter. Reminding that if I play the movie on the browser but outside of presenter
there is no problem at all.

This is what makes me crazy, since it's definetly working ok, why would it open the flash plugin download page and then
start restarting presenter. And why only this movie amongst all others...

We recently changed from adobe cs5 to cs6. Is there any chance that it might be something related to that?

yes in a way it seems to be a very similar problem. I saw that his solution was to put everything inside a movie clip. However, my movie is almost like that already. I have code on the main timeline telling buttons that are inside a movieclip to change frames at the same movie clip as they are. On the main timeline there is only 1 frame as I always do.

I'll try to put everything inside a movie clip and see what happens but it's strange since nothing is really referencing the main timeline. No _root, _level0 or even _parent or stage or anything.
