Presenter vs Storyline

Jun 03, 2016

Hello - I love using Presenter - it's intuitive and has all the tools we need to do our courses.   Our LMS provider has told us, though, that Presenter isn't as stable as Storyline and that we should be using Storyline because Presenter is being phased out.

Can you please let me know if this is true and/or why they would be telling us that Presenter isn't as stable as Storyline?   I'm just really confused.

Thanks!

Hi Sheri,

I'm certainly confused by that too - and I'm imagining that they mean they're phasing out support for Presenter, as that's not something we'd said.

There is a good comparison of Storyline and Studio here, and you are also welcome to talk through your specific needs with our Success team if you're looking at changing.

Thanks so much! Is there a technical support person I can talk to/email about this, as there’s more to the issue: Our LMS vendor keeps insisting that our files created in Presenter are somehow not stable and they seem to blame almost any technical problem we have with regard to content not being developed in Storyline, but instead in Presenter. Are there any known problems using Presenter for AICC formats? What about for SCORM courses?

I don’t understand why they feel this way so I’m trying to figure out if there have been any issues with Presenter that maybe Storyline would actually be better for. I just don’t know. Or maybe our LMS vendor just prefers Storyline and not Presenter??

Thanks!
Sheri

Hi Sheri,

First, I wanted to mention that responding via email includes your signature here so you're welcome to edit the post to remove that information.

As for contacting Support you're welcome to reach out to our engineers here, and they're accessible 24/7. You could also look at testing your Presenter content in SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing LMS content.

Are you publishing for AICC or for SCORM?

Hi Sheri,

If it works at SCORM Cloud I'd also expect it to work within your LMS if they're following the same SCORM or AICC standards. You could share the results of how it behaves at SCORM Cloud with your LMS team to see if that helps them narrow down why it doesn't work within your LMS with Presenter.

Hope that helps and please feel free to let us know if you need anything else.
