preview mode just shows a blank white box

Jul 03, 2011

Don't know what I did to change anything. Worked fine 2 hours ago, now when I go to preview (whether 1, 3 or all slides) it just shows a blank box and on the slide view in powerpoint on the left of the screen it's jumped to the last slide.??

...and weirder still, when I publish instead of just previewing it works o.k. Now I've also found that when I open annotations it will sometimes re-boot the whole computer! Are their issues with the 30 day free trials version of presenter??

I've had this same issue.  I have the full not trial version of Studio 09.  Have been unable to get an answer from Articulate and this issue is KILLING ME.  It worked perfectly for me while I had the free trial.  As soon as I purchased my preview simply shows a white box for all slides all courses.  Works when I publish though.  Any suggestions?

Hi Blaine and welcome to Heroes,

Can you try completely uninstalling and reinstalling the Flash Player to see if that resolves the issue?

*******Please do the following in Internet Explorer.

Uninstall your current version of the Flash Player. Follow the steps here:

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157

Download the latest version of Flash:

http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash

Make sure that you have PowerPoint closed when performing the process.

If you continue to have issues, can you tell me if you're working off of a network drive?

Good afternoon all, i am having the same issue, I am using a trail version and this is the first day of my trail and its a real setback.

If i publish the content i am able to play and view it, but while working i need to preview my work and i am not able to do that.

I have tried all the solutions offered here and on other threads i have found on this forum, i have uninstalled and reinstalled flash, i have the latest version which is 11.

I have I.E 8 installed, I had office 2003, then uninstalled and installed office 2010 and still continue to have the issue.

Any help offered much appriciated.

Welcome to Heroes, John!

Sorry for the trouble you're experiencing. If you haven't had any luck following the troubleshooters above, including a simple restart of your system, please be sure that you installed the 32-bit version of Office 2010. Microsoft released a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of Office 2010. Microsoft recommends installing the 32-bit version and Articulate Presenter '09 will only work with the 32-bit version. Presenter '09 also will not work with the Click To Run version of PowerPoint 2010. For more information, please review the following article:

If you continue to experience issues, please feel free to Create an Articulate Presenter Package and upload the zip file to us for review. One of our excellent support engineers will be happy to assist you in finding a solution. You can do that here:
Please include the url to this thread and all pertinent information, including software version. And feel free to leave your case number here so I can follow it personally. Thanks!

Good morning guys,

I had a response from the support guys, and the advice they gave me has worked.

Thank you very much for help Peter, my experience so far with the Articulate team has been very delightful, you guys get an A+ for customer service that's for sure.

The solution that worked for me as follows:

1)  Close PowerPoint if it is running.
2)  Based on your version of PowerPoint, navigate to the following directory:

     POWERPOINT 2010:

        32-bit Windows:
        C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14

        64-bit Windows:
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14

3)  Right-click the POWERPNT.EXE file, and select "Run as administrator".

4)  Test your software, and let us know if it works as expected.

What if you're not the administrator?

I am currently getting a blank screen in my preview and blank fields when i try to publish. I have been working on this module for about a week and this just suddenly happened.

Even if a restart works I would love to know what thefault is behind this to avoid it in the future. I would also love to know if Chris Thomas' had the problem solved by restarting his computer even though the fault was rebooting his computer for him.

Hello,

I'm using Storyline Articulate 2 and I'm having the same blank preview problem. I can see and edit the slide content until I try to preview the slides/scene. I can publish the project and it will display perfectly through my browser. I have restarted my computer as well as updated Storyline to the most recent update. I am also using the full version of Articulate not the trial version with presenter.

Any thoughts as to why my preview shows up blank?

Thanks,

Lindsay

Articulate support told me just now that the problem is with the latest Adobe Flash plugin (version 20 0 0 267). The fix is here and it works: https://www.articulate.com/support/storyline-2/preview-isnt-working-in-articulate-software-with-flash-player-2000267-installed
The fix they describe (for now) is to go back to the previous Flash plugin version. It didn't take long to do.

Hopefully Storyline 2 will soon be modified to work with the current Flash plugin. Top marks to Articulate support for identifying the problem this morning and to responding to my request so promptly - I imagine they saw the problem clearly on all their machines too!

I now have a working Storyline 2 Preview mode.

Hi all,

Adobe and Microsoft released information that Windows 10 and 7/Vista have been updated.

Install the latest Windows updates to resolve it.

  1. Go to the Start menu and click Settings.
  2. When the Settings window opens, click Update & Security.
  3. Click Check for updates and allow the latest updates to install.
  4. Reboot your computer and test your Articulate software again.

We're waiting for additional information in regards to Windows 8.

Good news! Adobe and Microsoft have fixed the Flash Player bug that broke many applications just before the new year, including Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and Articulate Studio.

Here's how to install the latest Adobe/Microsoft update so you can preview your e-learning projects, edit videos, and launch CD-published courses again.
