Problem trying to record audio, sync animations, add annotations

Mar 25, 2011

I am trying to record audio for my course.  When I navigate through Articulate --> Record Narration nothing happens.  Nothing also happens when I click on Add Annotations or Sync Animations.
The only way I have found to record the audio is to go through audio editor, which makes it much harder to sync my animations to the audio.  Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

I have already submitted a case, but wanted to check here to see if anyone has had this problem.

Thanks!

Hello. I am unable to add annotations to any Powerpoint file. I CAN add audio and sync animations.  This problem occurred previously, and Gren helped me (Case #00253372). This is what seemed to fix it at that time:

"I uninstalled Articulate and Office 2007, and decided to install Office 2010 while I was doing this. Then, when I first launched PPT and tried annotations, it did NOT work. Once I set PPT to always run as administrator...it worked!"

The problem has returned. Currently, my PowerPoint program (exe) is set to always Run as Administrator. I have repaired, reinstalled both Articulate Studio 09 and PowerPoint, and still have this problem. I have done all tasks listed in the Knowledge article at http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=1321.

I suspect that my profile is correupt, but I don't have any other issues with any other software. I also have software and hardware that allows me to use my 2 large monitors and my laptop monitor. Could this be causing problems?

I ran the APTrace.exe and captured my steps in the log, attached here for your review. Please escalate finding a solution to this; it is a real productivity killer.  Thanks in advance. -Jill

I am having a more basic issue with Presenter '09 than what others have described in this thread. Originally, I had trouble with the Record Narration feature automatically advancing to the next slide as soon as I hit the "Start Recording" button.  I was able to alleviate that in the first 18 slides of the current 26 slide presentation I am working on, by reformatting the preso to the .pptx Power Point version.

Unfortunately, when I arrived at slide 19 during today's recording, that slide and all the rest that follow automatically advanced, preventing me from recording the correct slide.

I am using Windows XP and PPT 2007.  This has happened numerous times in the past - on my computer and my colleagues'.  I thought the PPT-to-PPTX conversion had done the trick, but apparently not for all slides.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to Heroes, Kendrea

If you attempt to record narration, sync animations, or add annotations in Presenter '09 and find that it skips through a slide, you are likely encountering an issue with the theme or slide master in PowerPoint.  You can workaround this issue by temporarily changing the theme for the affected slide(s) in the following manner:

1) Select the affected slide(s).
2) Go to the Design tab.
3) Click the drop-down arrow for Themes, and select "Save Current Theme".
4) Assign a recognizable name to your custom theme.
5) Then click the drop-down arrow for Themes again.
6) Right-click a Built-In theme, and select "Apply to Selected Slides".
7) Record narration. sync animations, or add annotations to the affected slide(s).
8) Then go back to the Design tab, and click the drop-down arrow for Themes.
9) Right-click your custom theme, and select "Apply to Selected Slides" to revert back to your original theme.
