Problem with audio mismatching

Feb 06, 2012

When i preview presentation slides one at a time all of the audio comes out perfectly. However, I'm having issues with the audio editor and with the sync-animations tool. The audio is being replicated from slide 3 to slides 4 and 5 as well. I tried exporting the audio and I have the same problem. Slides 4 and 5 are the same as slide 3. I need to know how to get what is being previewed to be reflected in the sync animations tool so I can sync the audio appropriately.

When working with the audio editor this message appeared, I do not know if this is relevant to the issue or not.

Hey Jason!

If you have a published presentation in which audio from multiple slides is playing simultaneously, it may indicate that there are PowerPoint shapes (text boxes or objects) in your presentation that have been named with special characters. You can correct this issue. Here’s how:

The problem isn't audio from multiple slides playing simultaneously, the problem is duplicated audio from one slide playing over the audio in another slide. (Only in Sync Animations view and the Audio Editor) when you preview the slides the audio plays correctly.

Here's a screenr demonstrating the issue. Thanks for the quick response.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Jason, and thanks for the Screenr. I'd recommend going ahead and sending your files in so we can take an even closer look. If you can do that, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!

Hi Lisa!

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. That behavior is typically symptomatic of corrupted files or from moving files around. To avoid this type of behavior, we recommend the following few steps:

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names. Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in this Microsoft article.

With that said, if you'd like to send us your files, we'd be happy to take a look and see what we can do to help. Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Thanks Paul. I think I have a fix. I still can't explain what happened though. I deleted the ppta and re-imported the audio and built it back from scratch. There must have been some sort of glitch in the audio in the ppta because the sync audio played fine, but the preview played a different file! Bizarre!!

I don't have any more time to spend on it, so I need to move on. Thanks though!

Lisa
