Problem with inserting video in PowerPoint

Oct 16, 2016

Hi Articulate team,

I have exactly the same issue what described in following link:

https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-presenter/inserting-video-into-powerpoint-activex-error

When I am trying to insert video in Power Point next message appears:

"The selected video could not be inserted into the presentation. Please ensure your Office ActiveX settings are compatible with Articulate Presenter."

I changed ActivX options, reinstalled Flash but still having problem. As in the case of Jared I can insert Presenter Video, but can not insert video in the slide itself. As I see Jared somehow solved problem, please, share the solution which worked in his case - most probably it will work for me too.

Thanks,

Hello Yerzhan!  I was able to locate Jared's case, and Vevette was able to reproduce his problem by installing EMET 5.5, a toolkit provided by Microsoft.  Here is her screenshot.

She continued:  I read up on this and from what I understand, this tool (EMET) considers Adobe Flash Player as a vulnerability so it is blocking it via its Attack Surface Reduction (ASR) feature. This causes conflicts as Adobe Flash Player is required for Articulate Studio '13 to function properly. See minimum system requirements listed here.

One workaround I found is to disable ASR for MS PowerPoint as demonstrated here.  I was then able to insert the Flash video via Articulate Presenter after restarting MS PowerPoint.

If you do not have EMET 5.5 installed, or this process doesn't fix the issue, please reach out to our support engineers so that they can investigate what is happening in your case!

I, too, am having the same issue. Adding Slide Video from File gives me the same ActiveX error.

I've tried the ActiveX setting adjustments, downloaded the latest Flash Player, Turned my UAC to the lowest setting and rebooted. Also, I do not have EMET 5.5 on my system.

I'm trying to upload a 960x540 .mp4 that has worked before upgrading. I'm using Articulate '13. PPT 2013 and Win 7 Enterprise.

Hi Sean,

I looked at the previous case that Yerzhan had in this discussion and in his set up he was able to get it working after those steps and also found he has two installations of Office - so that may have been a part of it. So you will want to chek into those elements, and then if still having difficulty please reach out to our Support team.
