Problem with Resume and Other Message Boxes

Aug 12, 2011

Hi,

I am experiencing a problem with blank message boxes. It is my understanding that the resume messages will work outside an LMS provided the user does not clear his/her cache and eliminate the flash cookie dropped on the local machine.  Is this correct?

I checked out the information regarding text box settings: http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=2111  and my settings were indeed blank.  However, when I populated them and republished they remained blank.  I rechecked the settings and I should be seeing the default English language messages, but they are not appearing - except for the OK button on the QMTrap message.

I confirmed that the custom template is selected on publication.  I am curious whether it should appear as "name of template (in project)" ...

I am at a loss regarding what to do next. Can anyone offer guidance?

Hi Brian,

That was the problem.  I located the template that did not include "(in project)" and it works perfectly.

I am glad I included the mention of the (in project) label. As a new Articulate user I had assumed that that label indicated that it was the active template. For me that was the intuitive reason for inclusion of the label.

I have since searched the forums and uncovered your Player Template knowledge base post on the subject: http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=2462

I think mention of that label or a link to  Player Template post should be added to the "Blank message, dialog, button, or label.." knowledge base post.  it may save someone else a few hours time.

Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Darlyce, welcome!

You'll want to publish your course again to see if the changes have taken effect. And one thing to be careful of, when in the publish dialog, be sure to select the template you're currently working on. By default, Presenter publishes with the template you published with most recently, rather than the template you are working on currently

If that doesn't help, can you please confirm that your DPI is set to 96?

Thanks, Darlyce

Thanks for the info, Darlyce.

Though it's been awhile, it sounds like your course may be getting affected by this Microsoft update.

If you can rule that out, we'd be happy to take a closer look at your project files and help determine what might be going on. First, create an Articulate Presenter Package of your presentation as described here. Then upload the resulting zip file from your computer on the second page of this form, and we''ll attempt to diagnose what's happening when we receive your upload.

Thanks!

Thank you for your suggestions.  I am not able to uninstall the windows update that is all administered by our I.T. department, and not likely they will do that?  Do the fonts for the text labels default from what is used in the course, as I do not see where you can change the font with in the template?  If so... I do not think that is causing the problem I'm having, as we use similar fonts in our other courses and they we are not having this issue with those.  I have packaged the course, but did not see where I could send that via the link you provided in your reply - it only asks for my name and product number?
