Problem with synching of animations

Sep 13, 2011

I previously published a course with no problems. I later had to make some content changes, whiched caused me to rerecord my narration. I am currently trying to resynch my animations to my new narration. The problem is my first animation on every slide is now immediately displaying when I click on the Start Synch button and I have no ability to synch the first animation with the narration. These are all set to display on click in PowerPoint so I don't understand why they are displaying immediately. It seems that the Start Synch button should only trigger the start of my narration and not the first animation itself. It seems like my animations are one step off now for the entire course. I did not have this problem when I first synched the animations four months ago. For example, I have a slide with four animations. The first animation starts when I click the Start Synch button. The next three animations are displayed when I click the Next Animation button. So the Next Animation button is still displayed (instead of Stop Synch) when there are no more animations on the slide. Why is this happening? Please help!

Hi Wes & welcome to Heroes,

If you attempt to record narration, sync animations, or add annotations in Presenter '09 and find that it skips through a slide, you are likely encountering an issue with the theme or slide master in PowerPoint.  You can workaround this issue by temporarily changing the theme for the affected slide(s) in the following manner:

1) Select the affected slide(s).

2) Go to the Design tab.

3) Click the drop-down arrow for Themes, and select "Save Current Theme".

4) Assign a recognizable name to your custom theme.

5) Then click the drop-down arrow for Themes again.

6) Right-click a Built-In theme, and select "Apply to Selected Slides".

7) Record narration. sync animations, or add annotations to the affected slide(s).

8) Then go back to the Design tab, and click the drop-down arrow for Themes.

9) Right-click your custom theme, and select "Apply to Selected Slides" to revert back to your original theme.
