Problems loading web published content onto website - presenter 09

Jan 20, 2014

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help.  A client is trying to load the published content from Presenter 09 onto their website.  They have tried several times but when you click on the link - all that opens is a blank player (not even the player that was designed for the lesson.  It looks like the default player with the Articulate logo).

Can someone tell me what they are doing wrong?  I have never had to load content onto a website and cannot even begin to offer trouble shooting for them.

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean!

If you view a published Presenter '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details.

Here's how you can upload your published Articulate content to a web server.

Hello Leslie,

Thank you for your reply.  The content has been uploaded onto the website. They mentioned that the content works fine but when they upload it using the FTP, the link they send out to people does not work. All you can see is a player (but not the player that goes with the lesson - it looks like the default player with the Articulate logo).

The client wants to know if there is anything else they need to do beyond unzipping the file and uploading the file directly to the FTP.

Any other possible suggestions?

Thanks - Sean

Hello Leslie,

I provided the following to the client from a post and it seemed to have resolved their issue:

When uploading your published presentations to a Web server via a third-party FTP client, be sure your FTP client is using Binary Transfer Mode.  If you use ASCII Transfer Mode or Auto Transfer Mode, the XML files in your published content may become corrupt, which will cause various playback issues. It is also important to maintain the directory structure of your published content.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sean
