Problems with Browsers

Sep 07, 2012

HI everyone,

At first, I thought this was a LMS issue, but it seems to be a more general one. It's a bit strange. Articulate works fine for me on the Mac side of things. As soon as I switch to Windows, however, I have problems. Firefox won't load the presentation at all. All i get is a dark grey screen (so it wasn't the problem that occurred a few years ago). Chrome loads the presentation, but only shows part of it (I've included a screenshot from the Articulate site, to show that it is not the LMS or the presentation that is the problem). It's not a zoom issue, but I'm not sure what it is. IE works fine. I played around with the settings in Presenter with Browser window settings and presentation size)  but nothing seems to help. I'm using the latest version of Articulate and the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. Has anyone encountered this issue and know what the solution may be? Everything was working fine a few months ago. Now I can't even get the presentations in Tom's blogs to work properly.

Thanks in advance

Hi Joseph,

Sounds like some browser issues to me for sure. Can take a stab at a few of them....

WIth Firefox, betting that it's not allowing the JavaScript to run that calls for the content to load.

Try this? http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/javascript-settings-for-interactive-web-pages

Don't think Chrome allows for script-based resizing of content which is how most LMSs work. I think that's the issue you are having there.

Hope this helps,

Bob

Hi Joseph,

To be clear... if it's what I think it is, it's a Chrome thing not an Articulate thing. Lots of content (including Articulate courses) use scripting to resize the window to fill with content. Chrome doesn't allow that as far as I know. So any content that does sizing that way is going to have a challenge.

We really need to get one of the deep-tech heroes to weigh in here. I'm betting there is a workaround.

Hi,

Thanks. Yeah, I know it's more of a Chrome thing than an Articulate thing, but it is a bit of a problem if Articulate content can't render properly in Chrome. For me, it's not that big of an issue, as the problem doesn't occur on the Mac side of things. But it is a problem for my students, who don't want to have to change browsers to access course material.

I also wasn't sure if Articulate realized that visiters to their site may not be seeing all the content they have to offer properly, if those visitors are having the same problems i am. But, again, thanks for your help.
