Problems with completion in Saba LMS

Aug 08, 2013

I am preparing a course for the Saba LMS. (I don't know which version.)

The course has a quiz. The Presenter settings are for SCORM 1.2 and is using 80% for the quiz score as a passing result.

The problem is that when I purposely fail the quiz, the course record displays my failed score and has the completion status listed as 'Unsuccessful', but it pushes the course into the Completed Courses folder.

Here are the current settings:

I have uploaded the course as a learning object in Saba.

And on the course/offering level, the mastery score is set at 80.0.

The Saba administrator has recommended that I remove the mastery score line from the imsmanifest.xml file. There were known issues.

I'm also creating a Support case.

thanks-

claudine

Hi Jason and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! I'm not sure if Claudine is subscribed to this thread or not, so I checked on the case mentioned above for you.

Unfortunately, no resolution was reached in the case because no additional questions were answered by Claudine.

If you could share some more details about what is going on with you, perhaps we can help you troubleshoot.

Hi Claudine! I checked on your case that you referenced (#00349768) and can see where Vevette sent you an e-mail asking for some information about your LMS:

Difference between 'Completed Courses' and 'Completion Status' so that we could be sure that you were selecting the correct tracking:

Passed/Incomplete
Passed/Failed
Completed/Incomplete
Completed/Failed

It may be worth testing this in SCORM Cloud to help us determine if the issue is Articulate-related or if it's on your LMS's side. If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on. If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team.

Not to revive an old thread...but...we had this issue as well and were able to resolve it with setting in Saba (I believe we are running Saba 5.4 or 5.5).

In the offering, go to the Policies tab.

Under Completion Policy, select the radio button titled "Override delivery mode...".

Then, under that section, select the radio button titled "Offering is marked complete automatically when all learning assignments are marked complete OR if there are no more content attempts available."

The is how we solved the problem.

Hi Dahlia,

What do you have set as your resume behavior? If the user is picking up where they left off, they may not have the option to reattempt the quiz although you could look at including the "retry" button as a part of your results slide. Also you may want to check with your LMS team to see if there is a setting/feature to limit the number of quiz attempts or how the course will behave when launched again.
