Publishing Chinese language version for LMS

Oct 02, 2012

Hoping someone can help.   A bit of history before I get to the problem.

We have had a number of English modules translated to Chinese by an external provider.  They had published the modules to SCORM so they could be uploaded to an LMS.  We are experiencing problems trying to get these to work correctly - they are not completing (no quiz is attached within the module so completion based on slides viewed).  To try and save time,  I am now trying to publish the modules myself (I have the source files and have installed the required font in order to publish).

Problem - When I try to publish for LMS, the 'imsmanifest.xml' file is empty - everything seems to play correctly when I click on player file however I know that this will not work in LMS if this file is empty.  Is there some reason why the imsmanfiest file would be completely blank?   Note - the versions created by the translator contain data/script within imsmanifest file.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.  Cath

Hey Cath,

Are you able to send us your files so we can take a look? Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Hi James

Whilst you can add Chinese characters to the first Properties screen (e.g. in Published Title field) for LMS publish, the fields in the SCORM Reporting and Tracking screen must contain all English characters.   Translator had copied the Chinese title into tracking fields - it did not recognise these so would not publish correctly.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Cath
