Publishing error (again!!) with Presenter

Jun 24, 2014

Hi there,

I have a 20 slide fairly basic articulate 13 presentation - 3 interactions and narration.

All is fine until I publish and I am getting the generic error message halfway through - articulate has stopped working, do you want to send an error report.

This has happened before!! And via the forums I was told to create a new presentation, copy the slides, reimport the audio etc. All done but my new file is still giving the same error.

Could anybody shed any light on this  - publication with Articulate 13 seems incredibly flaky and this file needs to get to Africa within 48 hours for an M.Sc. - no pressure

Thanks so much ...

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

So sorry to hear about the trouble again!

Thank you very much for sharing the file. I first attempted to publish and recreate the error - looks like it's crashing around slide 13.

I also noticed that the file name (which also gets reflected in the title when publishing) contains an underscore and the title contains parentheses and periods. I recommend avoiding this, if possible.

  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Looking at this a little more (after renaming the file) it looks like just previewing slide 13 causes a crash, so this is definitely a sign that something in that specific slide is causing an issue.

I tested each content item on the slide and it seems that the issue is with the table in the slide.

I remembered seeing an issue related to proofing language and selected all of the text in that table. I changed the text to "US/English" and the slide previewed successfully.

I attempted to publish and this time I made it to slide 17 before seeing the crash again. The language on slide 17 was also set to another language (Arabic). I changed this to English as well and this time the full publishing process completed successfully.

I'm attaching the modified project file. Please make sure that you check that proofing language if you get a chance. That may have contributed to the issue before and may impact your future courses if that option remains Arabic.

Let me know if you have any trouble with this, or any questions!

Best,

Christine
