I have just created a course in Presenter and published to lms. When i go to play the file by clicking on the 'player ' html file as i normally would, the course doesnt play. The page doesnt advance and all i get is a blank screen. When i click to delete the file, i get the message 'the file configuration.js is a read only file'.
Why does the file not play? Can any one help? I need to make available these courses asap.
The "read only" error you're getting makes me wonder about the location of the file. Are you working with local files, or are you running the files from an external source?
If you are experiencing unexpected issues using Articulate software, here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.
1. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
3. Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.
Now, for testing published content, it's a little different, too. Though the information above will help with deleting the content, to test it, you need to be sure you're viewing the content in the environment for which it's intended.
If you view a published Presenter '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details.
If you've uploaded the course and still run into this issue, are you able to share a link to the uploaded content so I can take a look?
Unfortunately, the .zip file you provided is the published output, not the presentation files. The only way to view that content is locally, which, as I explained earlier, not the best way to view it. I cannot test the file, nor upload it to test it. So, I'll end up with the same problem
Have you uploaded the published content to your LMS? If so, can you share the URL link to the published course? If not, can you share a Presenter Package, instead?
First, I published for Web and used the "View Presentation" option. I did receive a java pop-up, but that's normal when you're viewing a local file. After closing that pop-up the presentation loaded and I was able to view it.
Then, I launched the player.html file (which is the file that's launched when you use the method above) and the same happened. I could view the content, but I had to bypass the java notice.
After that, I published and uploaded the content to Articulate Online. Take a look at it here.
The only thing I noticed is that the video in slide 5 doesn't play, but I didn't wait for it to download. Is this what you're seeing? I was under the impression none of the course would load for you.
i was not able to view anything from my end.The video takes a while to load so it should play after a few seconds.
I published for both web and lms but either wont play.
Christine, I have followed all the steps, resaved on the c drive.I noticed i saved the published file on the c drive but the presentation for some reason i mistakenly saved on the network drive. I also edited the titles and it works
I was able to fix one of the three courses that wont play but the other two still have the same issue.I have edited titles, made sure the presentation and zip files are on the c drive.im not sure what else to do
Ive been trying to upload the package but it wont load , not sure if this has to do with the file size.
When i was creating this course a window popped up that powerpoint was having issues if i wanted to diasable to articulate presenter ads in.i clicked no.Im not sure if thats the issue and if thats the issue what can i do?
Hmm. That is strange. Have you noticed a pop-up like that before in the past?
We may need to look a little deeper into what's causing this problem. What version of Windows are you running? Also, do you know what version of Office you're using? We'll also need to find out if you're using the 32-bit or 64-bit installation of Office. If you need help finding any of this information, just let me know!
