Publishing: LMS Vs Web

Aug 19, 2013

If I want a version of a course to run both directly from the web and from an LMS, can I JUST publish the LMS version and use that for both? I understand that a version published for web won't work on an LMS.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,

If you're planning to host the course in both places separately, could you publish it twice (first publish as LMS, ensure files are saved appropriately and then publish again for Web)? Each publish option is set up to produce the necessary files for how it will be viewed in it's intended environment. Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to do.

I can publish it twice, but didn't know if there would be any problem with also  using the LMS version for a straight web deployment (no LMS). There may be some files in the LMS version that aren't needed for the web, but I didn't think they would hurt anything. Using the LMS version for both would be a way to keep from publishing twice, having twice as many files, and tying up my computer during the publish.

Thanks for your response.

Tim
