Quizmaker properties

Feb 28, 2013

Hello!

I need your expertise.  Here is what type of properties that I would like to have (or already have) for the quiz/presenter:

--They need to take the quiz at least once (did that)

--They cannot advance without taking the quiz fully at least once (did that)

--They do not have to pass the quiz to advance, they can also fail (did that)

--Need to have a results slide (did that)

Here is the tricky part...

--The user can go back to the previous slides even during the first attempt, but can't go forward (but still need to show results slide).

Is there a way to create a custom results slide?  Will this do the trick?

Thanks again,

Jay

Hi Jay,

You're wanting to keep users from advancing to the next slide, but still allow them to view previous slides, correct? You should be able to accomplish this by using Restricted navigation.

  • Locked — This prevents users from navigating away from the slide they're viewing, until the slide is finished. When the slide does finish, the user will only be able to move forward, not jump back to a previous slide.
  • Restricted — This prevents users from navigating to any slide ahead of one they're currently viewing. They can, however, jump back to a previous slide.

Would that work for you? If so, you might want to check out the tutorial below:

Articulate > Locking or Restricting Your Course's Navigation

Thanks for the helpful information.

The problem I would like to solve is where the user can go back to previous slides when they are taking the quiz.  However, I would like them to fully take the quiz before advancing to the next slide after the quiz.  I thought about making the pass score very low so that they they don't have to retake the quiz, but then they will be falsely notified that they passed and did where.

Is there a way to create a custom results slide, and not the result slide made by Quizmazker?  You think this will help?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jay

Hi Jay,

I apologize for the delay. How about just changing the navigation for only the quiz slides to locked? If the navigation in the quiz slides is the priority, you could do this to ensure learners finish the quiz before continuing.

Another thing that may work for you is branching. What you could do, since you can't really make an official custom results slide, is branch the course, depending on the learner's score. You could then make the content on the branched slides customized for the score the learner receives. Take a look at the article below for more information:

Articulate Support > Branching to any Presenter '09 slide based on quiz results.
