Recent Updates May Have Broken HTML5 Output
Feb 05, 2018
Hi Articulate team,
I never know what the best course of action is when I think I've found a defect, but responses are typically timely here, so I'll start here.
I've noticed that in the last few days, whenever I publish a course in Studio 360, the HTML5 output no longer plays through to the end. This happens consistently for all of my courses, and it's happening for courses that previously played through just fine. I'm doing the best I can to try to uncover a pattern to make it easier for you to diagnose. So far, I've noticed that the last 3-4 slides of a course won't play. If you open the menu and try to click any of the last few slides, nothing happens. If you try to advance to the final few slides, it just simply stops and won't advance to those slides.
I've published a couple of samples to 360 so that you can see this.
1) "Surface Treat (S) Parameter Application Rules"
- Open the menu and try clicking around to various topics. It responds just fine unless you try to go to the last few slides.
2) "Controlled Move Review"
- This course is only just a few slides. Notice it doesn't advance after the introduction slide at all!
I must stress to be sure that you have disabled Flash in your browser to force the HTML5 output to show. This behavior is visible in both IE and Chrome.
I'll continue testing my theory and updating this thread with any new information. But until then, please inform the devs! This seems potentially serious.

I have more evidence supporting this theory. I just found a course with a publish date of 1/29/18, and the HTML5 output plays just fine on a PC, start to finish. I republished the course from the same PPT/PPTA, without changing a thing, and the problem appeared. The final few topics cannot be selected in the menu, and the course will not advance to them if you try to click Next to get to them. I think it's getting more reasonable to conclude that an update on Jan 29, Jan 31, or Feb 1 had caused an issue whereby HTML5 output won't play completely through on a PC.
This third course has been published to 360 so that you can see the problem if you want:
"Move Controlled (M) Parameter Application Rules"

Easy to confirm. Make sure you have Flash disabled to force the HTML5 output, and view this from a PC. Try to skip directly to any of the final 4 topics in the menu. The audio of the slide you are currently viewing stops, but nothing happens.
Thanks Andrew, and I see that you've got a support case started as well! Our team will take a look and be in touch with you soon!
Thanks for the response! I never know which route is best for this kind of thing (posting in the forum versus submitting a ticket to the support team).
I just uploaded a package in the ticket for one of the three courses I mentioned above. It's the "Surface Treat" course. You can see my published output in the link in the original post if desired. My hope is that you're able to replicate the issue by publishing locally.
Either option works! 😀 If we find it here in ELH we'll connect it to your Support case and keep an eye on that to share updates here in the Community.
Also, I believe you're on a 360 Teams account, so you do have priority support and live chat (available 24/5) accessible to you here!
Any early news or results to share thus far? Being unable to publish any courses is bringing the hurt to our timelines. Thank you, and sorry for asking!
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for checking in. I see that my colleague Gren has been assigned to your case, and she'll be in touch as soon as she can!
I just wanted to check back in and thank everyone who helped out here. Bret was able to get us past the hurdle, and things are publishing correctly now! The next release will eliminate the problem. :)
I appreciate you chiming in with an update Andrew :)
