Removing slide number from slider bar

Jan 12, 2012

Hello everyone

My elearning is set up so that as folk work through the module, when they have completed a section, they are returned back to a menu slide to chose the next section they want to work on.

This means that they might have been working on slide 20, for example, then be 'bounced back' to slide 8 in order to move on to another slide elsewhere in the module for the new section.

The module itself is working fine, but the change of slide number in the slider bar is causing confusion to learners.  Also, as the quizzes are counted as one slide, it is also confusing learners who are expecting the slide number to change when they are moving through various 'pages' of a quiz.

It would be an easy matter to resolve this by being able to take the slide numbers off the slider bar entirely and to just have it there as a visual indicator of how long this particular slide has left to run - and let them have the option of moving through it quickly if they are revisiting it.

I can't find how to remove the slide numbers from the slider bar.  I know there must be a way somewhere!  I have unticked the 'Display slide numbers in navigation tab' - I didn't think this would have the effect I wanted and sure enough it hasn't made any difference to the way the slider looks.

Has anyone been able to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Peb,

As of now, it is not possible to have the seekbar without the page numbers.

You can read this thread about the same challenge you are having:

You can put page numbers on your slides and remove the seekbar option altogether.

Hopefully, that will be an option in the next version!

Hi Peb & Dwayne! This isn't a perfect solution, but one approach would be to make the seekbar text, face, and track all the exact same color. This way the text isn't apparent. Here's a published example.

A downside to this is that the text is actually still there, so the text is still a tiny bit visible as the playhead moves across the seekbar. Another downside is that users will no longer be able to see the slide duration, which usually appears on the right-hand side of the seekbar. Maybe this isn't too big a deal, though, since the seekbar itself is sort of a visual indicator.

If you want to give this a try, here's how to modify the player color scheme. The items you'd want to change are the ones circled in the picture below. In my published example, I changed all three of these to a gray color (RGB=228/228/228).
