My images are not downloading fully into Articulate e.g getting a slice of the image only. What am I doing wrong? Also, seems to impact my hotspots in Quiz Maker. I'm new to Articulate.
Good morning Gloria! Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
Is this occurring when you import the images into Presenter '09 and Quizmaker, or when you're previewing and publishing?
First, and most importantly, make sure your project and images are located on the same drive that contains your Windows folder (usually your c: drive). Check to make sure that you are using a supported image type. Supported image types include .JPG, .JPEG, .GIF, .PNG, .SWF.
If the image is wider than 200 pixels, Articulate Quizmaker will automatically size it to fit on the question screen and provide a "Zoom" feature for the user. You should also confirm that your image is web ready (RGB). CMYK images will need to be converted to work. You can do this with a 3rd party photo editor such as Microsoft Paint.
If you've checked the information above and still have a problem with the images appearing as sliced, please let us know!
I've got our IT to check and it pictures still don't work. It is occurring when I import the images into Presenter '09 and Quizmaker. In some instances it appears to give you a whole picture, but not options to resize and when I publish I'm getting a fragment of the picture.
First, can you tell me where the image files are located? When you go to import them, what's the directory?
Also, can you upload a screenshot of the fragmented pictures? (You can take a screenshot by pressing ALT+Print Screen. Then paste (CTRL+V) into a Word document). You can also do this for the directory, if you don't want to type it out or copy it. Attach the document or image to your response and I'll be happy to take a look.
I've attached the file of the fragment picture I'm getting, when I import a picture. Our IT team checked that Articulate and Pictures are both on the c: drive of my computer.
Thank you for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.
Nothing happens when I cllick on the magnifying glass. I entered the picture via the media option. Was that correct? Still learning how to use Articulate.
Thanks for the update. It looks like the settings for the media may have been altered upon import.
When you're inserting the image as media in Quizmaker, are you altering any of the size settings?
The position doesn't need to be the same, but try checking to see if size is set to "Auto Size". Also, the image I'm using in the example is smaller. If your image isn't zooming, try changing the zoom options.
Sorry about the mix up on the products. I'm not sure why I thought you had mentioned Engage, but I saw your response about Quizmaker. Just a reminder, responses to the email notifications aren't posted - so if you'd like to share something make sure you come back to the forums!
In Quizmaker you can edit the side and position of the image in Slide view. Quizmaker uses two different zoom functions. One is flash based and one is html based. It depends on the size of the image. If the image is small enough that it fits within the dimensions of the quiz it will zoom via the flash function. If the image is larger than that then it uses zoom.html.
What web browser are you using? If you plan on hosting the content online I would test the content online. If you are viewing the content locally in Internet Explorer 6 on a WinXP SP2 or higher machine the zoom may not work due to increased security. If you publish a presentation and view the content on your local drive, your web objects may not appear as expected. This is due to increased security with modern web browsers and Flash player. To test a web object, we recommend you test the content in the environment you have published for, such as on a web server via a valid HTTP address, an LMS, or Articulate Online. You can publish a presentation for CD and view the content locally and most web objects will display properly. However, if you don't intend on distributing your content via CD, we strongly encourage you to test your content where you intend to host it.
Do you have access to Articulate Online? If not, you can use the service with a 30 day free trial. That should give you more than enough time to test your course :) You can get the free trial here.
If you've tried testing this online, but it's still not displaying the images properly, please open a case with us.
Presenter only supports videos in SWF, FLV or MP4 format.
If you'd like to use the WMV video, you'd need to insert it as a web object. Here's a tutorial on that.
An alternative would be to convert the WMV video into FLV format. You can do this with our Video Encoder software (available for a 30 day free trial, if you don't already have it). Here's a tutorial on converting your video to FLV using Video Encoder.
Hello, I have another urgent request. I've published a course which seems to have a 5 second timer on each slide. In slide properties I've changed the Advance to By User. How do I get rid of this? Or is this standard.
Thank you for the information about packages. Unfortunately, I can’t send it via email, as its too big! As my knowledge is limited with Articulate, you probably figured that out, let me see if I can explain.
When I publish the presentation and run through it, the Seekbar runs for 5 seconds (the timer) and then stops until the user presses the Next button. I’d set up the advance by user. I don’t know if this is a standard feature or something I can turn off?
Another problem, is we have a unique branded bullet point that we use throughout our presentations that looks like this . When I publish the presentation it turns into a normal round bullet point but still red? Is there something else I need to do to stop this happening? We use our own branded PowerPoint templates.
It depends what type of graphic you're using for the bullet. For example, PowerPoint SmartArt isn't supported in certain views in Presenter. More information on that can be found here.
Advance by user means that the user needs to click on "Next" to continue. It sounds like it's working properly for the option you've chosen. Are you not wanting the slide to advance by having the user click the next button? Or is it that you don't want the timeline to show any time?
You shouldn't need to email your files. If you go to this page, you can attach the files to the second page of the form If you need help with this, just let me know.

What happens when you click on the zoom icon on the image? Do you get the full image then?

Hello, I have a video with the extension WMV. It plays fine in Powerpoint but when I publish the course, it doesn't play. All it shows is a black box.

Hi Gloria,
I'm not following. What do you mean by a 5 second timer? Is the seekbar only playing for 5 seconds and advancing.. or?
Can you give a little more information about what's happening, or share your files with us so we can check it out?
Thanks!
