Side menu not really hidden
Mar 09, 2011
Hi guys,
I feel like I've camped in the forums for the past few days. Here's the next issue:
I've noticed that hiding the Presenter side menu in the published course doesn't actually hide it properly when you go to full slide view. If you move your mouse over the html background to the left, the mouse cursor changes to the hyperlink hand and you can actually click on items in the menu even though you can't see them.
This remains a problem even if you allow the "resize to optimal" option when the course opens, because there is still a strip of html background on either side of the full slide view after resizing.
Unfortunately, a client noticed this before we did. Has anyone else come across it?
I've attached a little demo to show you what I'm talking about (just run your mouse up the left side of the screen once you've opened the course). It's not the best example because everything is black, but I'm sure you'll get the idea.

Hi Paul,
Can you replicate the issue when you publish your presentation to the Corporate Communications template? I think that you may have a corrupt player template that is causing the issue.
Hi Brian,
Yup, the issue is still there with the Corporate Comms template (demo attached again) and I see it does it with my other custom templates as well. Thoughts?
Hi Paul,
I can't replicate the issue with a presentation on my side. I would suggest you submit a case by following the steps below.
Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:
Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help
Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:
Articulate Support - Upload Your Files for Review
Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09 which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so we can follow up with you in the forums.
Thanks Brian. I'll submit it shortly.
Hi I just searched for this issue as - of course the client discovered this problem before us as well!
In our case the whole course has nav on the slide and is supposed to have no menu to click around. Yet if you click as if it was a menu it takes you to that page.weird.
Was there ever a resolution to this?
Hi Karyn,
If you have configured your player template to “Scale presentation to fill browser window,” you may find that the navigation hyperlinks in the sidebar are still clickable when you switch to No Sidebar view or Slide Only view even though the sidebar is no longer visible. Please review the following article for more information and solutions:

Thanks Brian.
This works now.
I'll have to try the 'alternative" swf method on a future project - this one is out the door today! (hopefully)
: )
Thanks for posting this guys and gals. Turns out I ran into this exact same thing this morning. It wasn't in a course I was building but in one a vendor had me testing for them. It's nice to not have to dig for this answer now!
