"Some controls on the presentation cannot be activated.......

I am getting this error when I open my project "Some controls on the presentation cannot be activated. They may not be registered on this computer." I have searched all over the web and the only post I could find pertaining to Articulate Presenter is here http://www.articulate.com/forums/articulate-presenter/2305-ppt-error-message.html but I am running Windows 7, PowerPoint 2010, and have only the most current flash player form Adobe installed on my PC. Can anyone assist with this one?

This problem just started for me yesterday, it's been pretty devastating, can't even open the presentation to save or export anything.  I've tried creating a new presentation as suggested below but it doesn't work as it's not able to get past step 6 below.  This SEEMS to have happend around the same time I did a most recent windows update (Win 8) 2 days ago.  As I said, I can't "reuse" the slides so I'm stuck. I even uninstalled articulate and tried to open in powerpoint and wouldn't do it.  I transferred it to another machine and tried to open in powerpoint 2003. Nope.

The only thing that made a different was deleting the mp4 videos on the slides (using a very old backup of the file) and then saving it.  I reinserted the mp4's (which I've been using for 3 years) and the problem showed up again this morning.  Goingto try to get rid of flash next and reinstall (I'm assuming you can do that). I'd like to add my name to the list of people having this problem....

We are using Office 365, Windows 10 and Studio 13 w/ the recent Update 7.

We are getting the same error messages that June has listed above is her screen shots.

Also, when we try to create a package we are running into problems as well.

We click the Share tab and select "Articulate Package". 

We then get a warning that "This presentation was created in an earlier version of Articulate Presenter.  Would you like to upgrade it now?  A backup will be created of the original file"

I click 'yes' and it then comes up with a warning that some quizzes and interactions can't be found.  I can't find them either so I just click the 'remove' button for them all.

I've tried the uninstall re-install Flash and the Run/CMD recommendation above.

Any thoughts on this?  I'm struggling!

Hi Dave,

On the first message you received about upgrading to the current version of Articulate, I get that whenever I open a course created in a previous version of Presenter. Usually it does its work and I am good to go. On the second message, it looks like it is looking for the location of the quizzes. You don't have to remove them, it you click the locate button and navigate to the location they reside, everything will work.

I have found that when I am opening older courses to update or revise, I need to copy the entire folder to my hard drive. This will include all interactions, quizzes, audio, and videos.

As for the error report, I get that on a random basis. I find if I reboot my computer and restart PowerPoint, it usually resolves itself.

I have reverted back to Flash 18, and am only running Update 6 at present. We are using Presenter '13 on Windows 7.

Hi all, 

We've released a tool that will help you repair your Presenter courses that are impacted by the corruption of Flash player 19. 

  1. Download and extract this zip file on your computer.
  2. Drag and drop your corrupt PowerPoint file onto the repair-ppt.exe file you downloaded.
  3. Click OK on the restoration message. Your presentation is ready to be edited and published as before.

The repair utility will create a backup copy of the corrupt PowerPoint file in the same folder.

Tip: Wait to install Flash Player 19 until Adobe releases a new version that doesn't cause corruption.

I understand that you're getting an error message when creating an Articulate Package. 

When upgrading to Presenter '13, Presenter will look for the quiz and interaction files that were already added to Presenter '09. 

I would recommend copying the Quizmaker and Engage files to the same folder where the Powerpoint file is located. Then locate the files so it will be inserted to the Powerpoint file. 

Once all quiz and interaction files are inserted, please go ahead and upgrade to Presenter '13. 

Also, please do note that when creating, editing, and publishing Articulate Presenter '09 courses, be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. See this article for more information.

I'm having the same above problems and it started after I ran the Presenter 13 update.  When I open my presentation, I could see no visible problems except on one slide where the words were jumbled.  I deleted it and replaced it and still go same messages.  This presentation has LOTS of videos, so I hate to have to delete them and reinsert them.  But if that's what seems to be the answer here, I'll try.
